FUSED SILICA ZERO-DEAD VOLUME FITTINGS
Zero-dead volume fittings offered by Valco Instruments permit the easy connection of open tubular columns and fused silica tubing to other columns and tube I.D.'s and are ideal for easy and reliable connections of transfer lines, guard columns and other typical capillary GC plumb-ing applications. All of the fittings listed below are optimized for capillary GC use and are supplied with appropriate nuts and ferrules. Extra nuts and ferrules are available. NOTE: All unions, reducing unions, tees, and crosses are available with either one-piece ferrules (FS) for more permanent connections or two-piece ferrules (FSR) for applications where column or tube changes may be frequent and/or necessary. The ferrule style is indicated in each catalog number below.

FERRULES AND NUTS
The Valco one piece Valcon polyimide ferrules are high precision machined ferrules. The one piece ferrules are recommended in fittings for long term applications where the tubing or ferrule does not need to be removed. These and the two piece ferrules can be used up to 350oC.

Like the one piece ferrule, the two piece ferrules are machined ferrules, not molded like many other ferrules on the market. The two piece ferrules are recommended for applications where the tubing or ferrule has to be removed, or removed frequently. The two piece ferrules consist of an inner liner which slides over the fused silica tubing, and an outer ferrule, which captures the liner and forms the seal. These ferrules are easily removed from the fittings.
