| Built on the standard Model
8610C GC mainframe, the Method 25 GC is configured with an FID
detector, built-in air compressor and 10-port gas
sampling valve ( GSV ) to quickly determine
methane-non methane hydrocarbons per Method 25. The sample source is connected to
the sample inlet port on the GSV where it fills a 1 ml.
sample loop. The GSV is then
automatically rotated to inject the sample onto
the analytical column which separates the methane
( and optionally the ethane ) away from the rest
of the hydrocarbons. After the ethane has been
detected, the GSV is automatically returned to
the starting position which back-flushes the rest
of the hydrocarbons into the detector.
The PeakSimple data system which controls
the GC and GSV also collects the data and
quantitates the non-methane hydrocarbons,
producing a nice printout which reports the
non-methane hydrocarbons in ppm, and saves the
data to the computer's disk for later re-analysis
if necessary. The system comes standard with a
silica gel column, but may also be equipped with
other column types where necessary.
